High Price Tag for Sex and the City Sponsors

Friday October 24, 2003
Ad buyers wanting to get in on Sex and the City will have to fork over big bucks. Turner Broadcasting Co. is asking for $50 million from a major sponsor and $30 million from three other sponsors when the show moves into syndication in June 2004 on TBS. Execs tout the pricey package as air time in the Sex reruns, coupled with commercial time in other TBS shows.

The price tag has many sponsors pulling a not-so-subtle jaw drop as most media buyers don't write a check that big for an entire year of cable advertising. Especially for one show.
