High School Girl Asked to Quit Hooters Job
Monday February 9, 2004
High school senior Laura Williams has been asked to quit her work study job at Hooters. Superintendent Michael Moore says the job is inappropriate for the work study program.
Williams says she wanted to take the job because she had questions about the restaurant's advertising and negative attention Hooters receives. She is a hostess who wears a full T-shirt and khaki pants and does not serve alcohol or wear the waitress uniform.
Her father has no problems with her job. He plans to appeal to the school board so his daughter can keep her job.

I think that the school board is making a mistake, I’m a hostess at the hooters in mobile, and our uniform is appropriate, and we’re treated with respect. It’s a good job to learn from. I’m seveteen and my school has no problem with it, neither my family. Your work life is different, and Hooters is a great place to larn from. -Hollie
