Bush Camp Defends 9/11 in Re-Election Ads
Thursday March 4, 2004
Bush's new commercials feature images of the World Trade Center attacks, saying they're appropriate for his re-election campaign and the war on terror. But some families who lost loved ones in the Sept. 11 tragedy say
he's gone too far.
They feel the commercials are in poor taste and are using an American tragedy for political gain at the expense of the victims' families. Karen Hughes, a long-time member of the Bush camp, defends the ads and says the attacks were "a defining event for the future of our country."
