Independent Group Says Political Ads Don't Contain Facts
Tuesday April 6, 2004
Annenberg Political Fact Check has been analyzing political ads both Bush and Kerry have released. Fact Check says there are a number of exaggerations and misleading statements hitting the airwaves.
An example from Kerry's ads says, "George Bush says sending jobs overseas makes sense for America." Fact Check found that Bush has never said anything like that.
The Bush camp isn't immune to the group either. Many Bush-Cheney ads claimed Kerry supported higher taxes and would raise taxes $900 million in his first 100 days in office. Fact Check's report cites Kerry's voting record proves he's voted for tax cuts numerous times.
Fact Check hasn't analyzed the political ads from independent groups just yet. More info on the half truths in these political ads can be found on USAToday's Web site.
