The Apprentice Goes Cruising
Monday January 17, 2005
The Apprentice is setting sail with a cruise that will put fans in touch with the show's former contestants. Carnival Cruise Lines will sail September 26, 2005, with first Apprentice winner Bill Rancic and
second-season castmates Stacie Jones Upchurch, Jennifer Crisafulli and Raj Bhakta.
Fans on-board will also compete in challenges for prizes. The grand prize winner will be CEO for a day at Expedia.com, the co-sponsor of the cruise, and will take home a $15,000 paycheck for the day of work.
Some experts in the industry think the cruise is just another example of how the show has strayed from its first season originality and become a commercial property. The second season of The Apprentice received harsh criticism that it had gone commercial with the show being full of product placements and cross promotion deals.
