The Apprentice and Burger King Team Up for Third Season Kickoff

Tuesday January 25, 2005
If you're one of the fans hoping The Apprentice would return back to its season one roots and keep the critics from claiming commercialism, then you were probably disappointed with the third season premiere of the show. Burger King made its Apprentice debut and teams had to run BK restaurants and sell a special Apprentice burger: Western Angus steak, topped with onion rings, cheese, barbecue sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. The team with the most sales won.

The promotion doesn't stop there. Burger King released the burger to 7,800 of its chains Friday. A :30 commercial starring Donald Trump will run on NBC until the end of January with the burger being available until February 4.

Donald Trump's no stranger to food commercials. He and former wife Ivana poked fun at their relationship in a Pizza Hut commercial in 1995.

Meanwhile, fans of The Apprentice have also noticed season one's Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth showing up in a Burger King commercial. Clairol previously wanted to use Manigault-Stallworth in Herbal Essence commercials at the height of her 15 minutes but consumers threatened a boycott and the deal never happened.
