XM Satellite Radio and AOL Team Up
Wednesday April 13, 2005
XM Satellite Radio and America Online have formed a partnership to cross-promote each other. The deal was inked right after XM Satellite Radio announced plans to take
video to the Internet with live streams of music performances and other programs.
AOL plans to cross-promote its own online radio service through XM. AOL Radio is the second most popular radio service on the Internet, just behind Yahoo's Launchcast.
Experts say XM will benefit the most from the deal. AOL's subscriber base is at 23 million while XM's is at 3.8 million.
