Parental Group to Protest Paris Hilton Commercial

Wednesday May 25, 2005
Originally, network execs weren't sure if they were going to air the racy Carl's Jr. commercial featuring Paris Hilton. However, they went ahead and put the ad on the air. Now the Parents Television Council plans to protest what they call "soft-core porn" and may complain to the FCC.

In the spot, Hilton is wearing a revealing bathing suit and she washes a Bentley. Toward the end, she bites into the "Spicy BBQ Six-Dollar Burger." The tag line reads, "That's hot," her catch phrase.

The ad campaign is aimed at males 18-34. Carl's Jr. expected a lot of attention for the ad and even built a Web site called SpicyParis.com to show an extended cut of the commercial. The company said that Web site crashed after the ad aired because so many people wanted to see more.

A similar ad for sister company Hardee's will air next month. See the controversial Carl's Jr. :30 commercial here or see the extended cut here.
