Ford Pulls Ads from Gay Publications
Tuesday December 6, 2005
Ford Motor Company has pulled its ads from gay publications but says the decision has nothing to do with The American Family Association's proposed boycott of the automaker. Ford spokesman Mike Moran says the move has nothing to do with the boycott and is strictly "a business decision." Jaguar and Land Rover brands, also part of Ford,
will not advertise in gay publications anymore but Volvo will stick to its ad campaign.
Advocates for gay rights say they are angered over Ford's decision. A statement released by Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays says the group expects Ford to "publicly reaffirm its historic support for our community. And, we expect Ford to meet with LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) representatives this week to resolve these concerns."
