Group Protests Over Wal-Mart's Holiday Advertising

Monday December 19, 2005
Protesters lined up outside a Sacramento, CA, Wal-Mart Superstore over the weekend to express their outrage over the company's use of "Happy Holidays" in advertising instead of "Merry Christmas." One protester's sign read, "Wal-Mart Removed the Word Christmas from All Store Ads. Stop the War on Christmas! Talk to the Manager."

A spokesperson for Wal-Mart says they're not using, "Happy Holidays," in their advertising and that the theme of this season's advertising is, "Home for the Holidays." The ads started airing before Thanksgiving and will run until early January.
