Seventeen Inks Promotion Deal with MySpace

Wednesday July 5, 2006
Seventeen magazine has entered a deal with MySpace.com to market the publication online. The mag's new space includes quizzes, a friends list, banner ads and links to Seventeen's official Web site. Seventeen's Web site traffic has taken a plunge. ComScore Media Metrix shows the site had 807,000 unique visitors in May 2005, compared to 596,000 visitors in May 2006. Competitors Elle magazine and Teen People have seen even bigger drops in Web traffic year-to-year.

More on Companies Using MySpace:

Seventeen is hoping the MySpace promotion will help reach some of that site's 85 million members. Many Pepsi-Cola brands have their own MySpace page and Disney is using MySpace to promote Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
