Nissan Pulls Kim Cattrall Commercial

Monday July 24, 2006
Nissan has yanked a commercial airing in New Zealand featuring Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall after receiving numerous complaints. New Zealand's Television Commercial Approvals Bureau gave the commercial the thumbs up to hit the airwaves. But soon after the ad began airing, the Advertising Standards Complaints Board started receiving calls from viewers. In the commercial, Cattrall says suggestive lines like, "Why didn't you tell me it was so big? I just wasn't prepared for it," and "The all-new Nissan Tiida makes you feel really, really, really good inside."

More on New Zealand's Ad Standards:

New Zealand's known for its loose advertising standards. A New Zealand pizza restaurant even targeted President Bush with billboards featuring the tag line, "Even Hell Has Its Standards."

The Australian tourism department is currently promoting itself in New Zeland with the tag line, "So Where the Bloody Hell Are You?" The same campaign was banned in the UK.
