Commercial Actors Get a Raise

Thursday August 24, 2006
Commercial actors in national TV, radio, Internet and new media ads will get a six-percent raise in base compensation and an increase in contributions to pension and health plans. National advertisers along with the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have agreed to an extension of the commercials contract. Commercial actors appear in about $2 billion worth of advertising every year. The actors previously raised concerns over getting paid for media like the Internet just as they are paid on a per airing basis with TV commercials.

More on the New Commercials Contract:

The new contract will run until 2008. In the meantime, a New Media Committee will be formed to evaluate the changing technology advertisers use and how it will benefit or change the way actors should be paid.
