Who Would You Give a Volvo To?
Tuesday September 26, 2006
It's a question Volvo is asking people in new commercials. However, the question is only hypothetical.
Many people think Volvo is giving away a car from the wording. But there's no free Volvo involved at all.
Who Would You Give A Volvo To?
This is our way of inspiring you to think of the people you care about.
This isn't a contest. It's your chance to tell us - in your own words, videos and photos - about the people you want to help protect by putting them in one of the safest cars on the planet.
More on the Volvo Campaign:
When you click on the Frequently Asked Questions link, you'll find this paragraph:
Is there a Volvo vehicle being given away as part of the "Who Would You Give A Volvo To?" campaign?
No. The WWYGAVT campaign is intended to make people think about the safety initiatives Volvo has taken in vehicle development and therefore why they would consider a Volvo for the special individuals in their lives.
The promotion calls for videos, photos and/or written stories about who you would give a Volvo to. Your story goes into a gallery of stories for others to read.
But what's even more confusing to consumers is that if they Google "Who Would You Give a Volvo To," the results show a link directly to a press release on Ford's Web site titled, "Who Would You Give a Volvo To?" that really is for a Volvo giveaway in the Volvo for life Awards. However, those finalists have been pre-chosen and it will be up to America to vote from now to February 4, 2007, to determine the annual winner.
Consumers are finding this campaign confusing and don't see the benefit of sharing their personal photos, videos and stories without reward. Volvo's goal is to make consumers think about the safety of its cars but it seems one car giveaway would have more consumers willing to offer up their stories and generate even more exposure for Volvo vehicles.
