Charlize Theron Sued Over Endorsement Deal

Monday February 12, 2007
Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is facing a lawsuit after Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil claims she broke the terms of an endorsement deal. The lawsuit says Theron signed a deal to only wear Raymond Weil watches from October 2005 through December 2006.

Theron also has an endorsement deal with Christian Dior. She was photographed wearing a Dior watch for a perfume ad, which sparked the lawsuit.

The lawsuit also claims Theron's deal prohibits her from wearing any jewelry in any ad, even for charity. She was also photographed wearing a necklace in an ad for an AIDS charity.

More on the Lawsuit:

Raymond Weil's lawyers have not disclosed how much they are seeking in damages. The company's lawyer tells the Associated Press that his client has spent more than $20 million for its ad campaign featuring Theron.
