Sounding Off on the Advertising Industry

Thursday March 27, 2008
Underwear, politics, Keith Richards and NASCAR. These are the hot topics being discussed in the ad industry this week:
  • "David Beckham does Armani underwear ads. I read that Calvin Klein wanted Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to be an underwear model but I never found out if that deal was signed." -Gabbie on Celebrities Go for the Underwear Ads

  • "Yes, I think that celebrity endorsed products sell better because if the celebrity endorsing it is one you like, you are likley to follow that celebrity, especially younger children. Example, if ‘Hannah Montana’ is endorsing a product, young children will ask their parents to get them that product, because to these kids, these are people they look up to, and try to be like." -Brittany on Keith Richards the Face of Louis Vuitton

  • "I would open the ad with the Casey Knowles clip when she was eight. Then cut to the present day Knowles, delivering her line, 'That was then, This is now. Stay current, vote for Obama'" -Damien on Girl in Clinton Ad to Appear in Obama Ad?

  • "Good question because I don’t understand the point of this crosspromotion. Besides a bunch of people cooking at a nascar race, it does not seem to offer either nascar or Family Circle much return for the venture." -Alex on Family Circle and NASCAR Cook Together for Show
