Chemistry.com Adds $40 Million Campaign
Tuesday April 1, 2008
Chemistry.com is continuing its efforts to take down its online dating site competitors with a new ad campaign. The company has announced plans for a $40 million ad push that includes four new TV commercials. The ads begin debuting April 14 and will mainly air on cable networks like Bravo, FoodTV and TNT.
Chemistry.com spent about $21 million in advertising in 2007. The company is owned by Match.com.
With the company spending $21 million for the entire year in 2007, is $40 million overkill for Chemistry.com's new campaign with four commercials? Or is this a good move for the site to increase traffic? Share your opinion.

Just goes to show you that there is a lot of money to be made in the Personals and dating industry. I’m not surprised to see a budget this big.

They should have stuck with their rejected by eHarmony ad campaign. It obviously worked for them and that consistency is key. If they’re going to spend $40 million, that’s how they should do it.
Seems to me that they should spend more money on their web site. I have had nothing but problems since I joined & their customer service should be more tech support oriented. Not to mention they are only available on week days. Needless to say, I’m not impressed so far.
