Dunkin' Donuts Pulls Rachael Ray Ad
Friday May 30, 2008
After bad press across the blogosphere and fearing a boycott, Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an online ad over Rachael Ray's scarf. Critics of the ad said the scarf looked like a keffiyeh, the traditional Arab headdress.
The company released a statement saying, "In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. It was selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we are no longer using the commercial."

its just a Cultural Violation!
The scarf has been worn by famous Arab leaders such as Yasser Arafat etc. and its also weared by common Arab people on a daily basis as it is their essential piece of clothing to go along with their long white gowns. I dont think there is anything to do with religion here, but one should be careful when using one’s cultural values in modeling etc.
