Samsung Wants Consumer-Generated Ads for Super Bowl Pregame

Thursday August 28, 2008
Samsung is looking to consumers to create its Super Bowl pregame ad. As the official HDTV of the NFL, the company will start a mobile studio tour at select stadiums to record fans talking about their Super Bowl pregame moments and the memories they have of watching games. Between November 20 and January 4, visitors to Samsung.com/HowISeeIt will be able to create video clips. Samsung will narrow down all the entries and finalists will be posted on NFL.com/SuperAd where fans can vote for their favorite. The winning video will air as a commercial during the Super Bowl XLIII pregame show February 1, 2009.

Leo Burnett, Chicago, is handling the campaign, which will also feature HDTV advice videos with Regis Philbin, Alice Cooper and many NFL players. Samsung spent $113.8 million on advertising in 2007.
