Sounding Off on the Advertising Industry

Tuesday September 30, 2008
High fructose corn syrup, the lawsuit over the American Express commercials with Ellen DeGeneres and Beyonce Knowles and those Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates commercials are the hot topics being discussed in the world of advertising right now:
  • "It’s like saying, 'Pork…the other white meat.' I LOVE pork…yet I know it’s far from lean, healthy protein. 'High Fructose Corn Syrup' is far from that yummy vegetable, corn. We’re back to 'Have a cigarette…it’s good for you!.'" -J.S. on High Fructose Corn Syrup Ads Sour Parents

  • "I’m so sick and tired of reading the news to find some company or person attempting to put an extremely stupid lawsuit into effect. Because it’s clear that this is ridiculous, H&R Block has officially lost a customer in me. I will not support a company that resorts to such antics." -Marlon on American Express Sued Over Ellen DeGeneres and Beyonce Knowles Ad

  • "The ads, while cute, do little to produce excitement about the Microsoft brand. I’m reminded of some of the Super Bowl ads that came out prior to the dot.com bubble bursting. They were nice but didn’t create a connection with customers. And if you’re going to do a spot about a family, how about showing someone struggling to install a driver that they need for Vista." -Ken on Those Quirky Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld Commercials
