Madonna's Controversial Ad Shots for Louis Vuitton

Tuesday January 13, 2009
When Madonna signed on to promote Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2009 line, you just knew it wouldn't come without controversy. Pictures from the photo shoot have surfaced and they're causing a stir. The UK's Daily Mail called the ads "raunchy," as one shot features an open-legged Madonna sprawled out in a restaurant booth. Other shots feature the 50-year-old singer lying across a couple of chairs with a Louis Vuitton bag in the foreground.

What do you think of the pictures from Madonna's Louis Vuitton ad campaign? Talk about them.

Amazing - she is amazing and these shots are moody, sensuous, unique and promote the product. Tremendous!

The ads and Madonna look fabulous to me.I don’t see controversy,I don’t see too much crotch,I don’t see an attempt to shock. Some of the clothes, shoes and bags are a little over the top but that’s the look that Vuitton is going after. The photos are done beautifully.

I think it’s appropriate that Madonna is selling bags. Think about that one.

The photographer who shot the photos is the same one that shot the pictures for Madonna’s Sex book in 1992. It sounds like they were going for provocative but Madonna is way past the shock and awe.

What else can she do to make our jaws drop? I think those days ended about 20 years ago.

The crotch shot is the worst! Do we really need to see that? Doesn’t she care about the example she’s setting for her kids? I guess the millions she’s getting for the ads means more.

There are so many haters out there! Madonna has always done her own thing….and shined at it. How many of you will look this fab at 50?

These are just awesome but I can live without the crotch shot. Everything else is amazing as Linsay said.

My hat is off to Madonna, she looks great. People who are getting wrapped up in this should really look at what is really important. Maybe start by lending a hand on fixing our country.

I think it’s a perfect fit. Madonna and LV are icons who achieved the status by being progressive, revolutionary, dynamic, and provocative, with a global point of view. Stadling maturity with sensuality and making it relevant and fresh is a tough sell in an ageist market, be it music or fashion. Madonna and LV lead the way in changing this.

And if imitation is the highest form of flattery, just look around and spot the fakes and the wannabees.
