NHL Ad to Be Protested
Tuesday September 27, 2005
Martha Burk is taking aim at the National Hockey League. Burk, who attempted to gain access for female members at Augusta National in 2002, will write letters of protest to the NHL and NBC about a new ad campaign featuring a woman in scantily clad warrior-type clothes dressing a hockey player before he hits the ice.
The ad kicks off the "More Entertainment! More Passion! More Hockey!" campaign set to promote the season's October 5 opening. The ad is part of five in a series.
Burk calls the ad offensive and says her plans to protest the ad have already resulted in her receiving hate mail.
