Peyton Manning to Star in DirecTV Commercial

Thursday June 29, 2006
DirecTV is breaking a new TV commercial this week in its "There's good TV, there's better TV, then there's DirecTV," ad campaign. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is in the middle of game play when he turns to the camera and starts pitching DirecTV's "NFL Sunday Ticket" package. In the commercial, Manning breaks from game play to say, "If you had NFL Sunday Ticket from DirecTV, you could watch up to 14 games every Sunday. You could watch my brother Eli play the Dallas Cowboys." Game action resumes and Manning says, "I have to run. Actually, I think I'll pass," and he throws for a touchdown.

More on the DirecTV campaign:

The ad campaign launched at the end of April 2006. The two initial commercials in the campaign feature Bill Paxton reprising his role in Twister and Ben Stein goes back to the classroom for his role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher will appear in another DirecTV commercial in July. Verne Troyer, better known as "Mini-Me" from the Austin Powers movies, starred in a DirecTV commercial debuting in May 2006.
