L.L. Bean to Open Theme Park

Retailer L.L. Bean will open an outdoor adventure center near its headquarters in Freeport, Maine, according to the Associated Press. The theme park will feature fly-fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing for its visitors as well as lodging and dining.
The plan will help L.L. Bean promote its own line of outdoor equipment and clothing. The concept would work like other stores like Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops with a try before you buy type approach to getting customers by allowing them to climb rock walls and fish in a pond to test out the equipment.

L.L. Bean's keeping quiet for now about its theme park plans. The Portland Press Herald obtained documents asking for hotel companies to prepare their proposals for the project. The documents also say the theme park will be up and running in three years.
