"Only 60 percent of the XFL's ad time sold by kickoff. Execs were expecting 75 percent to be accounted for. What do you think of the XFL's chances for attracting advertisers?"

Tough guys. Big egos. Scantily clad women. Vince McMahon.
No, it's not the World Wrestling Federation. It's the XFL.
McMahon's answer to NFL withdrawals launched its 10-game season Saturday. NBC's inaugural game featured the Las Vegas Outlaws whipping the New York/New Jersey Hitmen 19-0.
It's NBC that's talking victory, though. Ratings show the peacock network scored its highest viewership in four months, earning a 10.3 rating and a 17 share.
But the primetime telecast suffered a viewer falloff as the game progressed. The real question to consider: Was it a satisfied curiosity or a blowout game that caused the decline?
Expect an even further dropoff within the next few weeks. Generating a Saturday night hit is a challenge in itself. Now try targeting an 18-34 male demographic as your audience.
Parties, movies, even girls they can actually date will more likely win a young guy's attention. Just remember, there's a reason NBC scored big on Saturday nights with The Golden Girls.
