Nutella Drops Kobe

Tuesday August 5, 2003
Ferrero, the maker of the Italian chocolate spread Nutella, announced the company will not renew its contract with Kobe Bryant. Bryant's image on labels and other promotions are being "phased out" although, as of this writing, NutellaUSA.com was still running its Kobe Bryant bobblehead promotion. Nutella isn't one of his major endorsement deals but experts say it probably won't be the last of his deals that disappears.

Bryant was accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in July 2003. Nutella is the first endorsement deal he's officially lost.
