Abercrombie & Fitch Pulls Catalog

Wednesday December 10, 2003
Racy catalogs are off the shelf at Abercrombie & Fitch. The clothing retailer pulled its holiday edition of the catalog, causing advocacy groups to celebrate and people with a copy of the catalog an opportunity to earn some extra holiday cash. As of this writing, sellers on Ebay with a copy of the catalog are offering it up at well over $100.

Company execs say the decision to recall the catalog was to make counter space for a new perfume. Advocacy groups threatening boycotts over the catalog's pictures of nude men and women say the decision really had to do with their own actions. Analysts say an article in the catalog on oral sex "pushed the envelope too far."
