Natalee Holloway's Disappearance a Continuing PR Struggle for Aruba
Friday June 10, 2005
The disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba has left the small island known as one of the safest vacation destinations fighting a PR nightmare. Right now, the most important focus is on finding Holloway and the people of Aruba have shown their commitment to doing all they can to help.
The media as well as Holloway's family have both touted that commitment as well as the friendliness of the Aruban government and citizens but the island faces a struggle to regain its squeaky clean image. The national media exposure has been favorable toward the island and its low crime rate. This also aids Aruba in recovering from the bad press it's receiving simply from the fact an American student disappeared while on vacation there and five local citizens are currently being held in relation to her disappearance.
Natalee Holloway has been missing since May 30. She was scheduled to return home to the prominent town of Mountain Brook, Alabama, the next day.
