Wear a Logo, Get a Free Set of Tires

Friday November 9, 2007
Want a free set of tires? Just wear a logo.

For the rest of your life. On your body.

Dunlop is giving away a free set of tires to people who will get the company's logo or tread pattern tattooed on their body. Tattoo artists are on-site in Las Vegas, starting at 8 a.m.

While you might immediately think it's an idea that wouldn't have any takers, there's a line right when the doors open and all 20 spots for the day are spoken for within the first five minutes.

More on Dunlop's Advertising Techniques:

This isn't the first time Dunlop has tried off the cuff methods to advertise. Previously, Dunlop gave people a chance to win free tires if they had tread patterns shaved onto their head. But the hair grew out and the marketing message was gone.

Dunlop execs needed something more permanent to help them advertise their company. Tattoos were the obvious choice.

This is a very disturbing thing to read about actually. But I guess to each his own. But maybe this is a lesson for the small home based business owner, to get the URL of their own Site tattooed on themselves!
