Hidden Camera Commercials
Tuesday October 7, 2008
If you've been anywhere near a TV lately, you've noticed the trend of hidden camera commercials hitting the airwaves. Hardee's, Pizza Hut, Burger King and even Microsoft have all jumped on the hidden camera ad bandwagon.
Are hidden camera ads effective?

Interesting. Anyway, the videos of Pizza Hut and Carl’s Jr. commercial are no longer available on YouTube. Please review them.
Hello Kalin,
I checked them before publishing and the links work. Just checked again and they’re still working so I’m not sure what problem you’ve experienced. All I can recommend is to try again.
Thanks for the comment,

I hate hidden camera commercials. I don’t care what BK says, they had to pay those people in their commercials.
P.S. Links work fine for me too, thanks.
I for one think that the Pizza Hut / Pasta Hut ad is a total fake. The ad says “Real People on hidden camera.” and when people see that, they rephrase it to “People who are not actors and weren’t hired to give scripted answers.” when in fact the ad just states that the people shown are in fact actual people, and the cameras filming the ad are hidden. Companies can’t be accused for false advertising when they are so vague.
I can tell you for a fact that the Pizza Hut and Carl’s spots were truly ‘Hidden Camera’ with non-professional marks.
Our very talented DP client, Phil Hurn, shot these spots so I know the details.
Brian–or “Phil Hurn”–is full of it. Consider the second ad in this series when the same stunt is pulled on Italians in Italy: there are no Pizza Huts in Italy, yet we are asked to believe a dozen or more random Italians are familiar with the brand?
How many Italian fast food restaurants are you aware of?
