Worst Commercials of Super Bowl XL

From Apryl Duncan, for About.com

Some commercials went for the joke. Others just fell flat.

But the ad game isn't about who gets the best laugh. It's about selling products.

These commercials should've been on the bench during Super Bowl XL:

Toyota, Hybrid Camry - In-Game Reaction
Didn't think the In-Game Reaction of "Might actually be the worst commercial of Super Bowl XL" would hold up since it was only the third commercial break of the first quarter. Turned out to be a true statement, though. Tried to reach too many people with a preachy message.

Overstock.com - In-Game Reaction
Commercial was awkwardly out of place. White to red transition in the ad is too similar to a Target commercial. Overstock's been around a while but the ad brought back memories of the dot com bomb of Super Bowl XXXIV.

PS Cleaning Products - In-Game Reaction
How many people were sharing dip with a group of sports fans when they saw this commercial about germs and people wearing green suits to avoid them? This commercial could've been more effective in a different program.

Slim-Fast - In-Game Reaction
Two problems with this commercial. First one, how many men watch the Super Bowl? Slim-Fast could've reached a huge audience of males with this ad but instead focused on women. Second, without targeting males this ad looked like it accidentally aired during the Super Bowl instead of on Lifetime.

Emerald Nuts - In-Game Reaction
Commercial didn't make any sense and took all focus away from the product by trying to be too cutesy. Viewers weren't left with the feeling they should go buy some Emerald Nuts. They were left with a "Huh?"
